#tomatoseeds #seedsaving #gardening Fermenting tomato seeds and why it’s beneficial. 🍅Pick ripe open pollinated or heirloom tomatoes. Hybrids will not breed true. 🍅The process removes germination inhibitors, seed-borne pathogens, as well as the gelatinous sheath surrounding the seeds. 🍅 Depending on temperature, it may take 3-5 days. Warmer temperatures will speed up the breakdown of substances. Keep container away from light. 🍅 You will notice a layer of white mold on top which is discarded along with unviable seeds that float on top. Rinse thoroughly and air dry seeds away from light in a well-ventilated room. 🍅Store seeds in a dark, dry, and cool place. Seeds remain viable for 6 years or longer. Happy Gardening!💚
