Keep mint in pots 🌱Mint (Mentha) thrives in full sun to partial shade. Plant in rich, well-draining, and moist soil. It is a prolific plant with resilient rhizomes sending out runners horizontally. If allowed, mint will take over an area in the garden, so it’s best to keep mint in containers (unless you have the room☺️). I put the pots on gravel and pavers to prevent runners and roots from rooting to the ground. Make sure to trim it back regularly to promote healthy new growth. 🌱Mint is a great addition to home gardens as it said to repel mosquitoes, fleas, ants and moths, and attracts pollinators if left to blossom. Prune back spent flowers ASAP to prevent self-sowing and spreading, (not all mint plants produce seeds). Mint is hardy to zone USDA 5, but some varieties tolerate temperatures down to -35 F or zone 3. 🌱Some medicinal and health benefits of mint include aiding in digestion, relieving flatulence, indigestion, boosts the immune system, has antibacterial properties, relieve headaches, toothaches, helps with cold symptoms and makes a calming and soothing tea…just to name a few! 🍵 ✳️Make sure to do your own research and consult with your physician before consuming herbs for medicinal purposes.
